2021 01 news new logoWelcome to Newington Primary School! We hope that you have had a restful break and have enjoyed time together with your family.

We look forward to returning to school and hope that 2021 will be enjoyable and productive for everybody.

Classes begin for all students on Monday 1st February.

The following measures will be in place as we continue to follow physical distancing and contact tracing requirements:

  1. Due to density limitations, only staff and the child currently being assessed, along with their family, may be inside the buildings.
  2. Contact tracing requires that we are aware of the families at school at a given time. This means that only families with bookings should be on school grounds. In order to avoid congregation, please remember to observe physical distancing requirements.
  3. Families may enter school grounds just prior to appointment times but must remain outside the building until teachers inform you that they are ready to proceed with your child’s assessment.
  4. While your child is being assessed parents/carers will be asked to complete a range of forms.
  5. Adults are asked to wear a mask when inside the buildings.
  6. It would be helpful if you could bring your child’s booklist items to school at the time of their assessment appointment.

We appreciate your support and co-operation.

We will be distributing further information in relation to school operations prior to Monday 1st February.

We look forward to catching up next week
Janet & Monica

Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung People, who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we come to learn.
We thank them and their ancestors for looking after this land for thousands of years, and for their kindness and courage in sharing it with us in the present.

Resilience ProjectIn 2021 we are fortunate to be working in partnership with The Resilience Project to deliver an evidence-based program, teaching practical strategies to create positive emotions and build resilience.

Students and staff have been involved in engaging presentations focusing on the key concepts of GRATITUDE, EMPATHY & MINDFULNESS and how we can build positive mental health in our day to day life.

The Resilience Project’s wellbeing curriculum – which is closely aligned to the personal and social capabilities in the Victorian Curriculum - is being implemented in all classrooms.

This program is an important part of our school’s effort to look after the mental health of our whole school community.
